Creatures of the Night Festival, 2-5 p.m.

According to the people of Gwinnett, the woods of the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center (GEHC) come alive at night. On Friday, October 23th, from 2-5 p.m. experience the Creatures of the Night Festival and the many environmentally focused tips they’re offering residents who want to have a “green” Halloween.

During this festival, nocturnal animals and their adaptations will woo crowds and entertain participants.

Guests will get a sneak peak at the GEHC’s collection of mounted nocturnal animals, participate in a discovery hunt, talk with a local bat expert, and meet some examples of night time creatures that might inhabit their own back yards.

There will also be a Green Halloween display which is part of the Green Halloween initiative, the GEHC encourages people to green their spooky holiday by choosing healthy treats, like organic candy or honey sticks.

The GEHC is also encouraging people to reuse, borrow, trade, or purchase used or do-it-yourself for costumes and decorations

To cap off the special event, visitors may return for a guided hike at 7:00 PM to explore the trails at night, searching for signs of the nocturnal inhabitants of the GEHC.

Admittance to the festival is included in the price of admission to the Center.  GEHC members are admitted free.
