Norcross Unveils New Creative Icon

Norcross Unveils New Creative Icon

City of Norcross, Georgia – In front of a capacity-packed crowd at the August 19th "Almost Elton John" concert, Mayor Bucky Johnson announced the completed installation of Norcross' newest artistic accomplishment. The 11' diameter mosaic now installed in Thrasher Park is the compiled creativity of area artists Anne Labaire and Jennifer Freeman. Ms. Labaire designed the whimsical piece, and Ms. Freeman's talents brought it to life with dramatic results.

According to Mayor Johnson, "Norcross is described as 'a place to imagine'. This mosaic is an exciting example of how true that statement is, and how the community and the city come together to find creative ways to showcase the arts."

The piece was sponsored by the City of Norcross and the Norcross Arts Alliance (NAA), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting cultural arts in the city. Originally, the NAA put out a call to artists, selecting the idea of a mosaic as the winning concept.
