NORCROSS, Ga. -- A Gwinnett County shopping center that lost its anchor tenants and has since sat mostly vacant is being removed to make way for a 157,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter.

Crews are working to demolish Green's Corner shopping center at the corner of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Rockbridge Road in Norcross, according to a report.

The center once had a Kmart and movie theater. After those businesses left, a few nightclubs have operated at the site, the Gwinnett Daily Post reported Tuesday.

The new Walmart is expected to open next summer.
