Create Jobs? Listen To Small Business

ATLANTA -- While the Labor Department says the nation didn't add any jobs last month, Gary and Melynda Birnberg managed to add 25 percent to their workforce.

Small businesses like their Which Wich sandwich shops generate the vast majority of all jobs.

So maybe Washington should be listening to them.

Gary Birnberg:

"I have to tell you we're opening our fourth store in three years and we feel pretty good about that achievement."

Melynda Birnberg:

"It's very scary. It's very scary to take the risk. But we've been very successful so far."

Gary:

"People will find value, and we're creating value. Value in our products; value in our service; value in our employees."

Melynda:

"If you're willing to be honest and you're a hard worker and grow with us, you certainly can gain momentum."

So what would they tell the President about jobs and how to create them?

Gary:

"I don't really even think it's the taxes. It's the restrictions, the paperwork, the bureaucracy. Get out of the way. Let us small entrepreneurs have a little more reign to do and open business because people are sitting on cash."

Melynda:

"Stop the taxation. The taxation that we get is insane, which makes it very hard to grow. If we had a fraction of the money that we have to pay for that, we could create probably a couple more jobs per store."
