FedEx Spending $55 Million on Norcross Expansion

NORCROSS, GA -- FedEx Ground on Friday detailed plans for growth in Norcross, revealing it will spend $55 million to build a facility there.

As first reported by Atlanta Business Chronicle in January, FedEx Ground will develop a 50-acre site in Norcross, where it plans for a 215,000-square-foot distribution center. On Friday, the company said its initial workforce at the new facility is projected to include 240 full-time and part-time employees and 75 independent contractors.

FedEx Ground's Norcross distribution center will be on Atlantic Avenue near Jimmy Carter Boulevard and is planned to open in fall 2012.

The facility is designed to process 15,000 packages an hour, with the capacity to dispatch as many as 75 pickup and delivery vans every day.

2011 Stock Market Challenge: Sanders Financial Management Teaches High School Students How to Invest

Sanders Financial Management (SFM) will again conduct its annual Stock Market Challenge at Norcross High School.  The nine-week event, now in its sixth year, teaches young people how the global financial system works, and prepares them for business careers in a competitive workforce.  It begins on February 14 and ends on April 15.  SFM is a financial advisory and investment management firm based in Norcross.

“We are excited to invite seniors from Norcross High School to participate in our simulated stock market competition,” said Owen Malcolm, chief operating officer of Sanders Financial Management.  “We’ll provide an overview of how the financial system works and general investment tips.  Then, after nine weeks, the student with the largest portfolio and greatest return is declared the winner and receives a $1,000 college scholarship.”
