Father, son denied bond in deadly chase, crash | News
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- A father and son are locked up after a judge denied them bond earlier Saturday.
Larry and Jesse Thomas are charged in that deadly high speed chase that killed an elderly couple in Gwinnett County.
Jail officials are telling us the father, Larry Thomas, wasn’t originally going to go before a judge Saturday. That’s because he was on suicide watch.
But a judge called him in anyway and when he did his son Jesse became emotional.
Larry Thomas was visibly hobbling as he was led into a courtroom at the Gwinnett County Jail Thursday morning.
As he sat down grabbing his ribs and wincing in pain.
His son Jesse, who had his right arm in a sling, broke down in tears when he saw his dad.
Due to the seriousness of their charges, neither was eligible for bond.
According to a new police report just obtained by 11Alive News the officer became suspicious when he saw the vehicle.
“The suspicion was originally brought to this vehicle because it looked like a police type vehicle with antennas on top,” officials said.
The dashcam video shows the suspect slow down, even turn on his signal as if he was about to pull over but then he sped off.
Less than two minutes later the Crown Victoria smashes into a Mercedes driven by Krystof Kraciznski and his wife Elzbieta.
The officer called for Larry and Jesse Thomas to get out of the car, but they were too injured to move.
Bystanders tried to help out the victims, but they were both unresponsive.
Both father and son are also charged with trafficking meth and morphine.
They’ll be back in court for a hearing on Thursday morning.
