GWINNETT: Peachtree Corners to become county's largest city
News

NORCROSS, Ga. -- Voters have approved a ballot measure to create Georgia's newest city.

Peachtree Corners will include about 38,000 residents, making it the largest city in Gwinnett county.

Unofficial election results showed that residents voted 4,348 to 3,272 in favor of incorporation on Tuesday.

Supporter Mike Mason told the Gwinnett Daily Post that residents will now have a voice and can plan for the future.

The new city government will govern code enforcement, planning and zoning and solid waste.

Authorities said a city council election will be held in March, and the Peachtree Corners will officially become a city on July 1.
