Norcross Star Set For World Hoops Stage

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Sixteen year old rising Norcross junior Diamond DeShields is anything but your average teenager.  It's easy to see the athletic superiority in the 6' 2" basketball player.  But unlike many of her peers she loves to read, feeling too many movies and TV is not productive.

Early in July DeShields leaves for Colorado Springs where she is the youngest member of the USA under 19 basketball team that will play in the world championships in Chile.  She's helped Norcross to back to back state titles, and feels comfortable in the international setting as well.

She's considering playing volleyball or softball as well, but considering college coaches can begin recruiting her on September 1, even her energy level might not allow for another sport.
