Gwinnett 'Feed a Friend' program to help pets through Moore, Okla. recovery | Pets
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Following Monday's tornado that destroyed much of Moore, Oklahoma, Gwinnett County Animal & Welfare Program is working to get food and other needs to pets in the storm-stricken area.
A Gwinnett official said it's their way of helping keep families together that are victims of the recent storm. Gwinnett units will collect pet food and pet supplies through a drive, then ship them to the only animal shelter still functioning in Moore.
The shelter in Moore has been flooded with displaced pets, which need to be cared for until the shelter matches them with their families.
Donations are being collected in Lawrenceville from Friday, May 24 through Tuesday, May 28 at the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter on Winder Highway. Donations may be dropped off between 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. For more information, call (770) 339-3200.
