Five restaurants join Gwinnett Restaurant Week lineup

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Five more restaurants have been added to the list of participants for Gwinnett Restaurant week. 

The special dining week is set for Monday, July 22 - Thursday, July 25. 

Those five additions to complete the list are Marlow's Tavern, Three Blind Mice, Graft Restaurant, Mojito's and The Georgia Pine. 

Gwinnett Restaurant Week is in its seventh year. Each restaurant offers a three-course meal for 20-35 percent less than usual, at a price of around $21 plus tax and tip.

Mellow Mushroom unveils 'High on Thai' menu

ATLANTA -- Atlanta-based Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers will run a special Thailand-themed promotion through July 14.

The "High on Thai" menu features several dishes with the bold, spicy and sweet components of Thai cuisine.

It includes a new appetizer, a "Big Buddha" salad, two hoagies, a dessert and, of course, a pizza -- Thai Dye, which features an olive oil and garlic base, mozzarella cheese, yellow curry, chicken, onions, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh basil and sweet chili sauce.

"Summer is the perfect time to enjoy both the freshest of ingredients and traditional Thai flavors like ginger, lime, curry, cilantro, basil, coconut and more," Mellow Mushroom VP of brand development Annica Kreider said in a statement.

Local companies gear up for Gwinnett Restaurant Week

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Returning for the sixth year, Gwinnett Restaurant Week is scheduled for the week of July 22 - 25.

During those days, foodies can visit a participating restaurant of their choice and select a three-course meal that will cost $21.21 per person. Tax and gratuity are an additional charge. During that week, Gwinnett can easily showcase some of its top eateries, as this year's diners do not have to present coupons or carry punch cards. 

To take part in restaurant week, patrons should call the restaurant directly to make a reservation.

Calif. Pizza Kitchen raises money for Boston victims

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- California Pizza Kitchen is doing its part to help the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Through Thursday, June 6, customers are invited to bring a fundraising flyer to any California Pizza Kitchen restaurant. Those who do will have 20 percent of their checks donated to The One Fund.

Georgia has California Pizza Kitchen locations at Atlantic Station, Lenox Square and Perimeter, as well as Alpharetta, East Cobb and Norcross.

Chipotle offers BOGO special for teachers

ATLANTA -- Chipotle Mexican Grill is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Day by offering buy-one-get-one menu items for educators.

On Tuesday, May 7, a teacher who shows a valid school ID at any U.S. Chipotle restaurant will receive a free burrito, burrito bowl, salad or order of tacos when they buy another menu item.

The promotion is available from 4 p.m. to close.

"We are changing the way people think about and eat fast food. This means going beyond our commitment to better food from more sustainable ingredients and working hard to engrain our restaurants in the communities that they serve," Chipotle communications director Chris Arnold said in a statement. "Connecting with educators and other key community groups is part of who we are, and we're always happy when our work makes an impact upon the communities where we operate."

Four Metro Atlanta Caribou Coffee stores closing April 14

ATLANTA -- Coffee retailer Caribou Coffee said Monday they were closing four locations in metro Atlanta on April 14 as part of a larger set of store closings.

The company said it will close 80 locations nationally, and convert another 88 locations to Peet's Coffee locations, including the company's remaining nine stores in metro Atlanta.

The local stores that will be closing will be the locations on North Druid Hills Road, the Norcross store on Peachtree Parkway, and both Marietta locations -- on Powers Ferry Road and on Johnson Ferry Road.

The chain, America's second largest coffee chain behind Starbucks, was acquired in December 2012 by Joh. A. Benckiser, the German company which also recently acquired the West Coast coffee chain Peet's.

Coke partners with Firehouse Subs for national contest

ATLANTA -- Coca-Cola and Firehouse Subs are partnering for a national sweepstakes centered on stock car racing.

Coca-Cola is sponsoring the Coca-Cola Photo Finish sweepstakes at Firehouse Subs locations through Apr. 21.

During the contest, life-size cutouts of participating Coca-Cola Racing Family members will be placed in FIrehouse Subs locations. Firehouse Subs guests can snap a photo with the cutout and submit it to win. Guests can submit photos via text to cocacolaphotofinish.com, or entries can be mailed.

Participating drivers include Joey Logano, representing the Georgia and Gulf region; Greg Biffle, representing the West and Central region; Danica Patrick, representing the Florida region; Denny Hamlin, representing the South region; and Tony Stewart, representing the Mid-Atlantic region.
