'FIRST' Peachtree Regional Robotics Competition in Duluth plays B-Ball

DULUTH --  The 10th Annual Peachtree Regional FIRST Robotics Competition is held at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Thursday through Saturday, March 15 - 17th, 2012.  FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.”  This year’s robotic theme is basketball – attracting hundreds of teams battling to earn a spot in the National Championship.

Students have this year created robots that can shoot basketballs and move up and down the court.

Our mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

The competition is an exciting and intense three-day event where robots developed and operated by high school age teams from Georgia and all over the US will compete to earn a spot at the Championship event in St. Louis.
