WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Unmasked: The Phantom of the Flopera, an original musical parody produced by The Spirit of Broadway, was a smashing success.  The congregation at First Metropolitan Community Church of Atlanta hosted Unmasked on Saturday, June 9th to benefit the church’s Compassion Programs, including its Food Bank, Weekly Hot Meal for the Homeless and Needy, the Clothing Closet and other outreach initiatives.  The benefit, now in its third year, raised a record breaking $8000 which is more than a 30% increase over prior years.  Unmasked was so well-received that The Spirit of Broadway is currently in negotiations with two Atlanta area theatres to produce a finalized version of the show this fall or winter, including an original parody score.

ATLANTA -- Here is a list of free summer activities for kids and families throughout the Atlanta area. There are plenty of free activities to keep your little ones busy: VBS, movies in the park, educational events, crafts, splash parks and more.

Many churches around Atlanta offer VBS free of charge. Some even include a free meal each day. Sign up fast because spots go quickly. The children will enjoy fun, games, and crafts while learning about Jesus. If any of these churches are charging for VBS, please let us know.

GWINNETT --  Gwinnett seniors can make plans to sing, dance, and relax to their health at this year's free health fair on Friday, April 27 from 9:00am to 12:30pm at the George Pierce Park Community Center in Suwanee. There will be line dancing classes, health screenings, and healthy cooking demonstrations to enhance your nutrition and physical activity. The health fair is sponsored by Gwinnett Senior Services, the Senior Issues Action Team of the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services, and Gwinnett Parks and Recreation.
