Community in shock after Norcross couple killed in wreck

NORCROSS, Ga. -- On Saturday, a father and son are set to appear in a Gwinnett County courtroom, after leading police on a deadly high-speed chase Thursday night. 

The impact of that terrible crash was felt hard five miles away from the scene in Norcross. 

That’s where the victims, Krzysztof and Elzbieta Karwczynski, lived for years.

Retired CDC worker, wife killed in crash with car being pursued by police

NORCROSS, Ga. -- A 77-year-old man and his 78-year-old wife were killed when a car being pursued by police crashed into their vehicle on Thursday night.

Police said the chase ended when Larry Thomas slammed into a Mercedes in the intersection of Peachtree Parkway at Jay Bird Alley around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night, killing Kryzysztof Krawczynski and his wife Elzbieta Gurtler-Krawczynski.

Kryzysztof Krawczynski had retired from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after 31 years. He most recently worked in the CDC's Division of Viral Hepatitis as distinguished consultant, chief, and team leader of the Experimental Pathology Laboratory.

Victims identified in Norcross double homicide as teenagers

NORCROSS, Ga. — Gwinnett County Police are investigating after two people were found dead in separate locations of the same Norcross neighborhood.

According to Gwinnett County Police Corp. Deon Washington, a surveyor found a man dead of gunshot wounds in an area between two homes in the 6000 block of Wandering Way around 9:30 a.m.

A short time later, police investigating a reported theft at a nearby pool house discovered a woman dead inside of a vehicle. She had also been shot, police said.

Tuesday, authorities identified the man as Jaquille Thomas, 18, and Angelique Bowman, 19. They are both from Stone Mountain and neither victim lived in the subdivision.

Norcross PD looking for missing 10-year-old boy

NORCROSS, GA (WXIA) – Norcross Police are looking for the public’s help in locating a 10-year-old boy that they said walked away from the area of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Medlock Bridge Road Thursday afternoon.

Police said Jaden Walters is a black male, 4-feet-7-inches tall, weighs 80 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray hoodie with a North Face logo on the front with blue lettering. He also was wearing a gray skull cap with a cross on it. He had a teal-colored book bag with lime green colors on it.

Jaden was last seen getting off of a school bus at 3:51 p.m., near the AllRound Hotel at 3175 Medlock Bridge Road, where he lives with his mother. Norcross Police said he ran away from the same area about a week earlier, and was found at the Pizza Hut on Peachtree Parkway. He has also been at the Dick’s Sporting Goods store in the same area.

Police: man found shot at hospital parking lot is a homicide

NORCROSS, Ga. -- The investigation of a man found shot in a medical center parking lot has been upgraded to a homicide, according to Gwinnett County Police.

Authorities responded to a shooting call at the Gwinnett Medical Center parking lot around 1 a.m. on Dec. 28 where they found 25-year-old Ezequiel Cruz Ventura suffering from a gunshot wound. It was previously reported that police found Ventura dead in his car, but they now say that he was dropped off at the hospital after being shot at another location and later died from his wounds.

According to a release, detectives say Ventura was shot earlier Dec. 27 at the Bukanas Sports Bar on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Norcross. An unknown individual then drove Ventura to the hospital around 10 p.m. and left him there in the car.

Police: Man responding to Craigslist ad steals iPhone

NORCROSS, Ga. – Police are searching for a man suspected of stealing an iPhone after responding to a Craigslist ad.

According to Gwinnett County Police, a man placed an ad on Craigslist to sell his iPhone 6S. A potential buyer agreed to meet him at a Shell gas station on Jimmy Carter Blvd.

As they discussed the sale, the suspect snatched the phone and ran behind the gas station. The victim followed after him and saw the suspect get into a silver or gray Dodge Durango.


The victim was able to get images of the suspect from dashcam mounted in his vehicle.
